The Sun Hat Edit (and why it's important to invest in one this summer)

After a very wet and dreary Spring, we have finally been able to say hello to sunshine! With a recent article on Express.co.uk revealing that this summer could be the warmest one yet within the past ten years, we need to start thinking about ways in which to enjoy the sun safely (and in style).

A little bit of sun exposure is good for you - it's how your body gets vitamin D which is essential for your body to be at its healthiest (ultrafino.com) but if you get too much sun exposure and sunburn, this can harmfully effect your skin, eyes and immune system (Arpansa). However, if you choose to wear some form of protective clothing such as lightweight long sleeves or a sun hat, you will be able to stay out in the sun 2 or 3 times longer without the risk of getting burnt.

A good sun hat (such as the very popular and in demand bucket hats for this season) will protect your hair, face and neck from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. While you still need to slather your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, a hat will give you added coverage so we can enjoy the sun safely this summer (sharecare.com).

So if you want to be able to enjoy the warm and sunny days ahead - in public, with friends, not in lockdown (yay) - then take a look at our range of bucket hats from Isabel Marant, Ganni, Rotate, Rabens Saloner and more.
