"Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking!" Iconically quoted by Miranda Priestly, from the Devil Wears Prada. As sarcastic as it sounds, it's rather rejuvenating and joyous to see an abundance of florals, especially around the blooming spring season. Let's embrace the happiest phase in nature, by literally wearing it! One particular flower from the bunch that's triumphantly trending is the romantic rose. We're talking about the three-dimensional rosette embellishments, but also the type of rose design that's circulating is the long-stemmed, with leaves and thorns. Roses are scattered everywhere on the catwalk and this aesthetic is retrospective of Alexander McQueen's 'SS07' show, which featured dresses and headpieces that exploded roses onto the runway. Not forgetting YSL's 'SS99 Haute Couture' show.

Roses are appearing as focal points on clothing, as jewellery and brooches, in beauty, as accessories and in prints. Valentino also features roses throughout his collections, spotted on Zendaya  and Rihanna.

The fashion and the beauty world is begging everyone to stop and smell the roses. They're lustful, ultra feminine and other forms of the motif can display a dark beauty; due to it's leaves and thorns. Roses are the queen of all flowers, but if they're not your best pick, we've given you a selection of alternative florals you can wear to make your spring/summer wardrobe flourish.
