If you see 'UV400' on your sunglasses it means that the lens blocks 90%-100% of the UV rays at the top of the spectrum, with up to a 400 nanometre wavelength, which is what we need to be looking for. In an ideal world we want shades that can protect our eyes and compliment our outfits, thankfully, Le Specs does exactly that! The recommended filter category for our sunglasses should be in 'category 2' (from the diagram above)  and you'll be delighted to know that the sunglasses by Le Specs are in 'category 3'. Another thing to note is that the darker the lens, the more protection it has; but when driving, it is best to have sunglasses between 'category 0-3' for safety precautions. Also, if you know you have sensitive eyes, polarised sunglasses may save the day! Polarised sunglasses are not only designed to block the UV rays, they are designed to reduce the glare from light-reflecting surfaces. The lenses will tend to have a polarising film coating that changes the way the light reaches our eyes, which will increase the comfort and clarity of vision.
