"Georgia Dant is the British designer of Marfa Stance, founded in 2019. Prior to Marfa Stance, Dant worked for fifteen years in luxury womenswear and menswear, with brands such as, Burberry and Rag and Bone. Dant likes the functionality of menswear but feels that womenswear doesn't have the same performance and practicality. After frequently travelling between London and New York for work, Dant noticed the struggle of packing light whilst finding the clothing that will accommodate all occasions and all weather conditions.
With this in mind, Marfa Stance was born on the concept of amalgamating style, function and individuality. The brand emphasises on the importance of longevity and the concept that customers can invest in signature garments that can be adapted over time for life, rather than replacing them. Dant saw a gap in the market for multi-functional luxury outerwear where she created a problem-solving modular coat that could be buildable "without looking like going up a mountain in The North Face.”
Each piece can be adapted through the inner linings, hoods, collars, waterproof outers and comfortable quilting in the distinctive dusty desert tones; inspired by the landscape of Marfa-Texas. Dant chose to use recycled deadstock fabrics in limited quantities from Japan and Italy, as she stated that the sustainability principles of the label are a priority."
