Designer Spotlight: Rabens Saloner
The Danish brand, Rabens Saloner, known for it's contemporary, languid elegance was founded in 2007 by Birgitte Raben. Good quality and handmade products are what characterises Rabens Saloner, where the love for traditional Eastern craftsmanship is the focal point of the brands DNA. The design team is based in Copenhagen with an outpost in Bali where Birgitte spends six months out of the year. As a designer, she's creates most of her collections whilst traveling to exotic and hidden places in the East, constantly on the look out for local artisans to collaborate with and help bring her ideas to life.
Rabens Saloner started off with collections consisting mostly of cotton styles, and the brand became famous of its exotic boho style. The famous ‘Angel’ dress, a fluttering cotton gown with wide sleeves, was the break-through of the brand in the fashion business, and Rabens Saloner went from being Birgitte’s one-woman business to the fast-growing company that it is today. Now, Rabens Saloner’s collections consist of a wide range of styles that addresses both the urban L.A. type, the rock n’ roll, the DNA tie-dye pieces from Bali as well as the classic and more sophisticated styles.
The brand’s signature tie-dye's continually push boundaries, done entirely by hand – making each piece completely unique to the wearer. The essence of Rabens Saloner is the feeling that everything is made by heart, capturing an adventurous eclecticism infused with a sensuous rock ‘n’ roll spirit.
